Moving tomorrow. And I found out today that I won't have internet access - ie at home - until June 8th. Bummer.

In any case, I'll have so much shit to do that I won't be able to log on anyway.

Back for a short while - the last time I was here, it was last Thursday.

Pigged out on Friday with my co-workers and a few student workers, as we had a potluck. Mai surprised the hell outta' us with the awesome stuff she made: sweet potato dumplings stuffed with chicken and veggies, garlic rice, and an awesome veggie soup...all from scratch! (She was down in the kitchens cooking while the rest of us were cleaning up...well, except for Big Momma, who was being a lazy ass, as usual)...God had to keep me from poking Big Momma in the head with a broom for playing video games on the computer while the rest of us worked. Good to know that the boss was keeping tabs on her activity - or the lack thereof - though.

Anyway...even though we went up to the 3rd floor of the center to have space for ourselves, nosey greedy people kept coming up to sniff, stare, and beg - nevermind that they weren't invited, and brought nothing to the table. The asshole dishwasher with the horrid table manners came up, and the boss told him that since he didn't bring anything and ignored the list that went around, he couldn't participate. He wouldn't leave...later, she told him to get some food, and go back to his business. The whole goddamn janitorial staff came up, and we tried to ignore them at first. We finally told them that it was a private thing, and they left - two of their supervisors stayed and ate though...good grief. I just had enough of the freeloaders and blurted out "This is a private fuction, folks. Have a nice day!" Good grief!

Got home, did a ton of laundry. Exciting.

On Saturday, I did errands - including buying a replacement cart for the one that was stolen. Went to Petsmart and bought stuff for the kitties, as I'm not sure where to shop for them when we move into our new digs. And I got supplies from Target. Ready, set...go!

Well, I need to finish up the last bit of packing, call the new apartment's interim manager tomorrow regarding getting the keys and giving her payment, and I'm ready to get my ass out of this damn place! So, I should be on the road on the 31st. Made arrangements for the truck, and my boss/friend - who I'll refer to as Jo in the future - or her husband Al - will be driving it. Me, my clothes, food, and the cats will go in a van.

I'm hoping that everything will go as smoothly as possible!

So - I'll be here on VR for maybe two more days, then I won't have any internet for awhile...which is hopefully only for a few more days.

Wish me luck, friends!

I found a new home!

04:17 May 25 2012
Times Read: 936

It's the apartment my boss/friend and I looked at earlier this week. It's $40 less than where I am now (including the 'pet rent'), bigger, and way better looking; the building is one of those pretty ones from the late 20's - 30's, in good condition. It's in Oakland, but the area is 'alive' to me...There are lots of shops, eateries, etc. I may be able to find a second job in the area on the weekends, and walk to it! I hope that it doesn't get scary at night, but then again, I'm inside in the evenings anyway. And getting to work is a busride away - and the bus comes right across the street. (A huge laundrymat is across the street too).

So - I'll finish packing and will be moving on June 1st, if not earlier. And I'll still have help with the moving, although I think I'll have to rent a truck, as the head boss is in Costa Rica on vacation (He voluteered to get the moving truck, but it's all good. I think I can handle it). I better start making calls tomorrow to reserve a truck!

Wonderful! What I remember from Cali was that neighborhoods were not always as bad as people thought. I used to walk From Hollywood Boulevard to Olympic every day through the neighborhoods. Two blocks of nice homes with nice lawns, two blocks of crap homes with razorwire. Same thing with Sacramento. I guess Oakland wouldn't be all that different.

I am glad you found a place :)

Another memory from my past.

03:52 May 25 2012

Ah - babysitters. Growing up, we had quite a few, before I became the latch-key kid (I was the oldest, and back in the day, the neighbors actually watched over you)...

Anyway, I recall five sitters - there could have been more, but I don't remember them. I do remember:

The evil church lady whose name I forget. She used to beat us at every opportunity, while quoting from the Bible. She scared the shit out of us, and for awhile, we were afraid to tell our mom. When we finally did - after the sitter went home - our mom was ready to beat her ass. Fortunately, she calmed down, and had a 'talk' with the old bitch a few days later. We never had to deal with that woman again...thank God.

Mrs Chapman - She was okay as far as taking care of us, but she had some serious issues with race. She was black, but she didn't like most black people...she LOVED white folks. And her son was more fucked up than she was. The old biddy was a goddamn packrat too.

Ms Vance - She looked like a nice old grandma...she was a dominant S&M lesbian, who frequently had visits from her 'daughter' while we were at the house. They'd disappear for over an hour in granny's bedroom; we'd hear spanking and moaning noises. Ms Vance actually had a pic of her 'daughter' on the dresser, wearing nothing but black thigh high stockings and a dog collar. When I told my mom about the sitter's visitor, and the picture, she stopped using the sitter immediately. LOL. Nice.

Louise - We loved her. Even though she never got our names right. For some strange reason, my name - Monique - came out of her mouth as 'Bodine'...WTF?

Charmaine - She was a teenager, and a lot of fun. She did watch over us, and did everything my mom asked her do for us...except for giving us Boones Farm Strawberry Hill wine on occasion. I got drunk once. We never told our mom about what she did though, as we really liked the 'Kool Aid'.

I only had three sitters that I remember; I think my mom's best friend watched me when I was a baby. I have a memory of a room full of gigantic toys, when I described it in detail including the scene outside the window I was told that was Jamie's house when i was 6 months old.

Mrs. Childress was the first sitter that I remember. She could not get my name straight and after arguing with my mother that my name is Darla because I answered to it. My name is not Darla but she only missed by one letter, I am flexible.

The next sitter whose name I don't remember because the only memory I have of her is of her giggling at how cute it was when her son(the same age as me)would molest me. Constant unwanted touching from this boy and after the night I was barricaded in his room while he held me down with his mattress and kissed me I refused to go back.

The last one was our neighbor Sue. Her home was our home and we got along with her kids. She sat for my mom until we moved when I was 7.

Short work week - short work days. Open for business Monday through Thursday from 8am to 2pm.

Coming in Friday to do the usual end-of-the-semester cleaning.

Apartment hunting- Oakland.

I tried to look at another apartment today, but there was no management office. I just left a note in the door of the apartment I was interested in, as I received no replies to the 2 emails I sent. The building was kinda' sucky overall, even though it was gated. I won't lose any sleep over it. (My boss and her husband took me by there, which was nice).

After work, I'll go see another one tomorrow. It looks good on paper. The neighborhood seems cool too.

I really wouldn't mind living in Oakland if I had lots of money, as I could live in the hills with the rich. Hell - I wouldn't mind the Montclair area, which is really at the base of the hills. Yeah - Oakland actually has rich exclusive neigborhoods up in the hills, believe it or not! No drive-bys up there...

In our coven forum, there has been a lengthly, somewhat emotionally charged thread about the new "What *insert name here* Is Doing Now" feature.

Some are thinking that it is some sort of invasion of privacy, while others disagree. We've actually had admins drop in on the discussion to give their opinions.

Me? I don't really care for it, but I'm not losing any sleep over it. I figure - if I really wanted to get creepy and stalk someone, I'd get on to VR without logging in...lol.

To make things chill in the thread, our own LibidinousLuke came up with the witty idea of pasting his own list of activity...totally changed to his liking, of course.

And with that, I will also share what I'm REALLY doing while online here. A lot can go on here in a matter of minutes, you know?

(A short version, as that feature is pretty damn long):

WHAT ISIS101 IS DOING

14:19 May 19 - Isis101 was writing in her journal.

14:09 May 19 - Isis101 was plucking a stray eyebrow hair.

14:09 May 19 - Isis101 was looking in amazement at how long the whiskers are on her cat Whiskers.

14:08 May 19 - Isis101 doesn't feel so good.

14:08 May 19 - Isis101 was eating a big hunk of cheesecake.

04:18 May 19 - Isis101 really has to pee.

Apartment hunting.

19:16 May 19 2012
Times Read: 1,019

Well - I got a call back from the property owner I met on Friday regarding the apartment that was so-so. After he got my credit report back, he is now gung-ho on getting me to rent the place. I told him that I appreciated being at the top of his shortlist, but I'll keep on looking, as I hated the kitchen and bathroom. He insisted that the work wasn't completed yet, and that the place would be really great when completed this week. Okay...however, the kitchen is still too damn small! I thanked him and asked him to keep me posted if another apartment comes up asap. I got until Monday/Tuesday with my final decision. I hope that I'm not shooting myself in the foot by turning down the place, as it may be hard to get what I want, and time is running out.

The guy is suppose to mail a copy of the report to me...

Anyway - I don't want to stay at my present location for another month and pay the asshole landlord another $895.00. I found a few places on Craigslist and move.com this morning...I hope to be contacted soon regarding them, as some look really nice and convenient.

After work, I checked out an apartment in the Fruitvale district of Oakland...yeah...Oakland. Sigh.

I applied for it anyway, just in case I don't find anything else better before the end of the month. The place is bigger than my current place, with a pretty good living room, dining area, and bedroom. It has new paint, carpeting and flooring. It also has lots of storage. But the kitchen is teeny-tiny. As a matter-of-fact, the kitchen and bathroom were gross. I asked the owner if he was going to get the two rooms professionally cleaned and he said that the manager was on it...oookay. Whatever the fuck that means...

Still looking for an apartment, of course.

Sooooo tired. Pissed off too. My appointment at the clinic today was a fuckin' waste of time. Someone - please tell me...what kind of clinic doesn't do X-rays, doesn't draw blood after 3pm, and Heaven forbid...doesn't give hydrocortisone shots?

The next appointment - which I don't think I'll bother going to - is in mid-June. Once I get my blood drawn, I have to wait to be referred to another doctor - at another clinic - for a damned shot. REALLY? REALLY?

The only good thing out of today's fiasco was that I got a prescription filled - at CVS - for 100 600mg ibruprofen tablets...for $3.00. I guess it's now pill-popping time for my fucked up left knee.

Mother's Day flower fiasco.

23:58 May 12 2012
Times Read: 1,091

I haven't spoken to my mom yet, but she should have received a bouquet of multi-colored tulips yesterday from 1 800 Flowers.

I thought that I paid for $30 of flowers with shipping of @ $15; I recall the total being $47 and some change. So, imagine my surprise when I get a charge on my debit card for almost $63! I was pissed, but I figure - it's better to deal with people coldly when having a dispute, rather than going bat-shit crazy. I enquired about the shipping costs, and this is how it played out:

1).

Dear Monique,

Thank you for contacting us.

We will be sending you a receipt via regular mail, which should arrive within 7 to 10 business days. For your convenience, the following is a breakdown of the order costs until the receipt arrives:

Delivery Date: 05/11/2012

Product Total: $30.00

Discount: -$.00

Gift Certificate: -$.00

Service or Shipping Charge: $27.98

Tax: $4.78

Total: $62.76

We thank you for your business and look forward to continue serving your gifting needs in the near future.

If you have any other questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact us at the address listed below.

Sincerely,

Nohemi Barrios

Sales and Service Specialist

2).

The shipping charges of $27.98 were for Saturday delivery; it was cheaper for me to have it sent on Friday, and the total would have been $47 and some change, from what I recall.

There is no need to mail me the order breakdown. As your company chooses not to honor the shipping charges I saw when I placed the order, consider this my last order from 1-800-Flowers.

Monique -------

3).

Dear Monique,

Thank you for contacting us.

We have issued you a $20.00 Gift Certificate towards your next purchase. It should arrive by e-mail within a week. Again, we apologize for any inconvenience that this may have caused. We hope to continue serving your gifting needs in the future.

If you have any other questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact us at the address listed below.

Just a regular late-morning Saturday.

While waiting for a bus to the pet supply store, I was enjoying the cool breeze while staying out of the hot sun (It's been hot all week).

I see this obviously drunk guy teetering on a corner across the street - he looked as if he was gonna' go face down onto the pavement. Before the light turns green for him to walk, he runs out into the middle of the street and starts spinning around. Of course, this makes him dizzy, and he goes - splat - onto the asphalt. Drivers are getting impatient, blowing their horns and yelling. When the drunk(?) finally stands up, he has what looks like a long carving knife in his hand. He starts doing jumping jacks, of all things...and falls onto the pavement again. He's laughing the whole time. He finally stumbles to the other side of the street, sending the gawkers in all directions...as he's still holding the knife, or whatever it is. He sits under a tree, then pukes. Then he gets comfy in a fetal position, and goes to sleep...or passes out... Nice.

Super Moon Madness?

04:25 May 08 2012
Times Read: 1,191

Oh my God...this day was like a story right out of One Step Beyond...and it's only Monday!

Appx 8:30 am:

Remember the guy I saw who stole stuff last week and ran off? Well - he came in and ordered two plates full of stuff for breakfast...and proceeded to walk right on out the door, even though both of my bosses were at the entryway, asking him to pay. This whacked out drunk - you could smell the cheap liquor on him - mumbled and just kept on walking. They cornered him in the center, and Boss #1 had the guy by the hood. Boss #2 - in high heels - was trying to take the plates from the guy. He had a serious kung fu grip on those plates though. A student woker - Al - went up to help, and got the food away from the guy. The drunk broke free and walked off, while Boss #1 followed him while calling security (the campus uses cops from the sheriff's office). When the officer arrived - a big-assed buff mo-fo that could snap a person's neck like a twig - the drunk tried to get all baddased...which was a dumb move. After he was cuffed, the officer basically picked him up and tossed him onto the back seat...lol.

We found out later that the thieving drunk had a few warrants out for his arrest (For stealing and assault).

Appx 9:45 am:

The fire alarm went off and we had to get everyone out...discovered that some dumbass decided to line one of the microwave ovens in newspaper. The microwave popped, snapped, and caught fire. It's now a ruined partially melted mess. I have to keep reminding myself that some of the students at the college are really fucking dumb as rocks.

Appx 12:30 pm:

A crowd gathered on the quad; a guy drove his car right smack in the middle of the quad with music blasting. He got out of the car, climbed up on the roof, and proceeded to roll a big fat blunt. He lit it, and started tokin' away, while dancing.

A female deputy arrived and tried to reason with him. He kept on dancing on his roof, doing a lil' shimmy for her benefit. When she took out her tazer and warned him that she'd taze him, he grabbed his crotch and said "Taze this!"

He was finally taken down when the big buff mo-fo officer arrived to assist.

Appx 2:15 pm:

The student center had quieted down after the lunchtime rush...well - it was quiet until an unknown 'troubador' started belting out 'Frito Bandido' at the top of his lungs.

"Aye yi yi yi - I am the frito bandido!" over and over...and over again. Fortunately, he wandered out of his own accord.

Appx 4:35 pm:

I made it to the BART train for home! While riding, I thought about how bizarre the day was, and how close I was to getting inside of my apartment and locking the door to the peace that awaited me.

Not quite...Some fucked up mentally disturbed guy walked through the car, with a bag from Churches Chicken. He was mumbling and cussing, repeating - in an annoying high-pitched voice - "Fuck you, motha' fucka'" over and over...his mantra, apparently. He stopped at a few passengers with his mantra, and most people ignored him. He then stood in the aisle, and dumped chicken bones and garbage in an empty seat. He then took his cup and dumped melting ice and water everywhere, while laughing. Some people started to move to other seats - hell, to the next car.

Now...today was hot, and I had a big garbage bag filled with flattened boxes. I was tired, and my left knee was killing me. I had enough of the day's shit. So, when that nutjob walked up to me with his 'motha fucka' shit, I just glared at him, and said "Get the fuck away from me before I kill you."

He mouth snapped shut, and he wandered off near the train doors, getting off at the next stop.

Can't We All Just Get Along? Apparently Not...

Wait - let me see. We've been friends here on VR - associates, really - with no rancor between us at all. I'm assuming that since I was a friend with someone here that you didn't like, ie hated - you removed me from your friends' list.

I've always believed that I could be friends with two opposing forces, as I don't like to get mixed up in what I consider petty squabbles. I'm here to have fun. Even if those 'squabbles' are of a more serious nature, I like to keep out of it if I can, for the most part. I give both parties the benefit of the doubt, as they are old enough to work out whatever issues they may have between them...well, in a perfect world anyway (lol).

All I can say is, hey - it's all good. If you are that petty, I'm glad that I'm no longer your friend here, or anywhere else. But - here's a little advice...try to have a good life, and make yourself happy. In other words, mind your own business, stop getting into or stirring up drama, and be content with making your life the best that it can be.

Of course...if you really do love to stir up shit, fight with other members here, and be a general asshole/bitch, you're free to do so. But please, for the love of God, quit your whining, and take your well-earned punches like a man/woman.

Right on! I really don't get why people here are so damn vicious. As I said in one of my journal entries (quite a few actually) people seem to think they're freakin' celebrities! It's soooo sad.

I think....if people call him/her self a friend...they need to realize that their friends are GOING to have other friends that they may not like or cannot tolerate. They deal with it when they reallt ARE a friend. They accept it and move on. Everybody has a unique friendship with one another. I have friends that have friends that I can't stand. But...I respect that because they are my friend. I am their friend. That's how it goes.

Nobody needs 'friends' like these idiots. Ever.

...I wake up this morning with barely any pain in my left leg...??? It may have gone as mysteriously as it began. In any case, I will keep my May 16th appointment.

Today, it's all about doing tons of laundry - packing a lot of it - and of course...packing. I still have tons of books to box up, and the rest of the kitchen stuff. I won't push too hard though, as I want the bad knee to behave!

So - I should finish my coffee and this huge hunk of cake - lol!

I hope to be able to hang out here a bit this evening.

Yes - it's true. It may not seem like a lot to many, but it's a lot to me...After very little paperwork, a check is on its way to me for almost $1,600.00...from a small but forgotten insurance policy my mom got for me that matured decades ago. (My two sisters got a similar surprise as well). It was a $5,000.00 death benefit policy, but since I don't have any kids and I am as broke as hell, I cashed it in. It's coming just in the knick of time for my move! Lol.

Work.

03:36 May 05 2012
Times Read: 1,240

Due to my problems battling my landlord, missing out on work for a few days, and being tired as hell (and with aching muscles) I haven't really been writing about work.

It's still half dull routine and half psycho circus:

* Last week, a culinary student has an epileptic fit, hits her head on a rolling steam cart, and goes into major convulsions. She is a tiny delicate thing, and I was really worried, as was everyone else around. The paramedics came quickly and took good care of her...so much that she was back on the serving line two days later...WTF? From what I was told, she gets sick a lot, but refuses to stay in the hospital or stay home. Everyone wanted her to take it easy, but she refuses to listen. In short, she has another attack, albeit a smaller one, but still...WTF?

* Some people REALLY get bent out of shape when they don't get to eat what they want when they want it. One girl - bitch - had a hissy fit when she came in for lunch AFTER lunch is served (11 am to 1 pm), demanding fries. Note that there aren't any student workers at the grill because the grill is CLOSED until 3:30, when it re-opens. This bitch knows this, as we've told her on several occasions what the schedules were.

Another student - asshole - is always complaining about how much stuff costs. Nevermind that the eating in the center is cheaper than anywhere else in town. He is always accusing us of raising the prices on everything too. When I was ringing him up, he said "I though that Coke was a dollar." My reply - "It's one fifty, and it's been that price since I started working here in the fall of 2010." He mumbled something then left...in the future, he'll be back with the same ol' shit.

* We have this program called EOPS for students who are single parents. It gives them a $50 a month stipend for meals. The majority of these students are women (There are currently three men, and all three of them are nice and polite). Anyway, about 50% of these women are 100% BITCHES. These hos get a lot of shit for free, and are the rudest, most demanding people on campus. And even though they get food for free, they are always trying to steal shit (Hiding bacon and shit under pancakes, eating stuff up before they get to the register, etc.) When you call them out on it, they get all loud and shit. I usually don't say anything; I just ring up everything and wait for them to ask why it cost so much. I then run down a litany of stuff, all the while smiling and being super calm. They don't argue with me much...

* Earlier this week, I catch a guy stealing shit. When I called him out, he pretended not to hear me, then ran. He pocketed some orange juice, a banana, and a half sandwich. At least he was trying to be healthy...lol.

So, Big Momma and I were talking about our impending moves. As our supervisor is going to help me move, I didn't want to mention that to Big Momma, as I wasn't aware of what her moving arrangements were. I did ask her if she was going to hire movers, as I knew that her mom would most likely help her with the costs. Her answer, and how our conversation went is as follows:

Me: So - you have guys to help you move?

BM: Yes. I don't have a lot of stuff. I have a Mexican that I can use.

Me: (WTF)? You have a Mexican?

BM: Yes.

Me: Do you know how that sounds?

BM: How does what sound?

Me: You said that you had a Mexican. Not 'I have a guy that I can use for my move'...or even 'I have a Mexican guy I can use'...You just stated that you had a Mexican. Like this guy isn't even really a person. Like he's just a nameless, faceless commodity.

BM: Ooooh...

Me: Not only did your comment smack of snobbery, but racism as well. I know that you didn't mean it that way...but damn...

BM: Oh my God. That does sound awful. It came out all wrong.

Me: Yeah. You have a leather sofa, a designer handbag, and a Mexican.

We laughed it off.

So - my left leg - the knee in particular - has been giving me problems for over two weeks now. For the first 2 - 3 days, I thought that it was just a regular ol' pain that one gets...but this pain is persistant. It ain't goin' anywhere.

For days, I've been trying to get an appointment at a local clinic. Having my face glued to the phone for up to 45 minutes at a time is not fun. So, imagine my surprise when I finally got through to the appointment desk this afternoon.

I left a message and info for a call back from an advice nurse on what I should/could be doing, in addition to making an appointment.

I get a voicemail stating that I could call back at the number...what the fuck? The purpose for my call was to get feedback on all of my bitchin' and moanin'...not to play phone tag.

Anyway, when I did get a nurse, she was really cool. Gave me some tips, and got the earliest appointment date for me: May 16th...

Damn. May 16th? What am I suppose to do? Hobble around for another two weeks...if I'm still able to stand? Well, no...it was suggested to me that I could go to Highland Hospital's emergency ward...

For those of you who have good health insurance, you don't have to go to the local public hospital and...WAIT. Oh yeah - I should mention that this particular local hospital is in Oakland...about 15 miles from where I live. If you know anything about Oakland, CA, you know that your chances of seeing a doctor at Highland is almost nil...unless you're a gunshot victim. And since there are a lot of those, me going to Highland would be a waste of time.

I can just see the nurses and receptionists there, giving me attitude for demanding a doctor:

"Really? Like your messed up knee is a top priority here, lady? Well - we'll get to you as soon as we tend to the three gunshot victims ahead of you. No...make that five. Two more are being rushed in as we speak."

Sigh.

I'm so sorry that you're having this knee problem and that the clinic appointment is so far off. It's a drill I know all too well when i'm having severe Lupus or R.A. Flare up's. Gawd, it sucks. It really makes you wonder what you are supposed to do in the meantime. I feel horrible for you and I want you to know that I hope, pray and wish for your health to improve. For your tummy....your knee and everything! You're a damn good person and a damn good friend, girl....I'm so sorry this is happening.

And I'm still holding my breath.

Oh man. I am so fucking tired. Tired of the aches and pains, which seem to grow when I'm under stress...welcome to Stressville!

Tired of packing; I'm not as fast and efficient as I was when I moved two years ago. Hell - I don't even know where the hell I'm going.

The kitties are enjoying the stacks of boxes...and the empty ones too, of course. They know, though, that boxes mean moving...they won't be too happy about that. But they'll be okay once we settle in...wherever the hell that is.

I just want to find a good cheap place. And be happy with my kitties. Especially as I'll have to pay my shitty landlord for May's rent, as I'm still here.

I could continue to bitch and moan, but there are some good things going for me. When I find a place, I have friends who will help me move. I should be getting a small amount of money from a forgotten source soon, which will help.

And - I just keep on smiling, figuring that the smile on the outside will penetrate to my core.

Wow...I think I was being deep. Lol.
